Bill Gates: Trump didn't know HIV and HPV were different

In a meeting with Bill Gates, President Donald Trump asked the Microsoft founder and philanthropist to explain if there is a difference between HIV and HPV more than once, according to video obtained by MSNBC.

Why it matters: Gates is one of the most prominent advocates for vaccines and curing diseases across the globe. It's noteworthy that Trump didn't know there was a difference between two very different sexually transmitted diseases.

More from the footage of Gates:

  • He said he "avoided" then-candidate Trump prior to the election when they were in the same place, and it was "scary how much he knew about my daughter's appearance."
  • He also said that Trump was at an event in Florida, was speaking to Gates' daughter "and was being super nice, and then about 20 minutes later he flew in in a helicopter to the same place. So clearly he...wanted to make a grand entrance."

Pelosi slams McConnell trial rules as "deliberately designed to hide the truth"

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) claimed in a statement Tuesday that the rules Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has proposed for President Trump's impeachment trial diverge from the Clinton precedent and show he has "chosen a cover-up" over a fair trial.

Context: McConnell made public an organizing resolution Monday laying out the terms for the trial, which include 24 hours over two days for each side to present their cases. It would block evidence discovered in the House impeachment investigation from being presented without a separate vote, and would delay a vote on whether to subpoena witnesses and documents until later in the trial.
