The U.S. has shipped and donated more than 110 million coronavirus vaccine doses to over 60 countries, the White House said Tuesday.

Why it matters: It is more than the combined donations of all other countries, the White House said, citing the United Nations. Biden had pledged to donate at least 80 million vaccines by the end of June.

What they're saying: "Today’s announcement is a fulfillment of his promise and a significant down payment on hundreds of millions of more doses that the U.S. will deliver in the coming weeks," the White House said.

  • Biden is expected to mark the milestone later on Tuesday.

By the numbers: The country that has received the most shots is Indonesia, with 8 million.

  • The Philippines received 6.2 million doses, and Colombia has received 6 million.

What to watch: The White House said that starting this month, the U.S. will begin shipping 500 million Pfizer doses to 100 low-income countries in need.

Nearly 1 million kids 5–11 on track for first week COVID vaccine

More than 900,000 children aged 5–11 will have received their first coronavirus vaccine dose by the end of Wednesday, according to the White House.

Driving the news: The CDC approved a two-dose series of Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine for children 5–11 on Nov. 2, with some kids receiving their first dose the following day. First lady Jill Biden on Monday kicked off a "nationwide effort" to get more young children vaccinated.

Health insurance costs for workers rose 4% during pandemic

Illustration: Megan Robinson/Axios

Health insurance provided by employers this year cost an average of $22,200 for families and $7,700 for individuals, a 4% increase from a year ago, according to new survey data from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Why it matters: While many people lost their jobs and health insurance during the pandemic, most companies didn't rock the boat heading into 2021. But even a relatively modest increase in the already high costs of job-based insurance means workers and families continue to pay a lot more for their health care.

What the federal infrastructure package means for Minnesota

Billions of dollars in federal funding for bridges, roads, broadband and more will flow to Minnesota under the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that cleared Congress last week.

Driving the news: The legislation, hailed by President Biden as a "once-in-a-generation investment," passed the House Friday night and now goes to the president's desk.

  • State and labor leaders who supported the bill's passage, including U.S. Reps. Angie Craig and Dean Phillips, outlined what to expect at a Tuesday news conference.
