Guardrails Alliance, a super PAC advocating for stronger AI rules, will spend $1.2 million against candidates backed by the AI industry.

Why it matters: The group, which has been instrumental in rallying tech workers to rein in AI, is going after Democrats and Republicans in competitive districts as the midterms near.

Driving the news: Guardrails Alliance will spend against Republicans in two House races: Aaron Flint in Montana's 1st District and Jay Feely in Arizona's 1st District, according to an announcement shared first with Axios.

It is also targeting Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-Calif.), who faces democratic socialist Angela Gonzales-Torres in California's 34th District.
These are the super PAC's first general-election ad buys, aimed at candidates receiving AI industry PAC support.
Flint, Feely and Gomez have all been backed by industry super PAC Leading the Future.

Zoom in: The money is going toward digital and YouTube ads, as well as streaming TV.

Catch up quick: Leading the Future, which says it supports federal regulation, has raised more than $140 million.

Guardrails Alliance has criticized LTF for being funded by industry players.
OpenAI president Greg Brockman recently pulled a $25 million donation out of Leading the Future, following tech worker pressure.
