Bluecore raises $50 million for port-powering nuclear barges

Deal details: Silverton Partners led the round, which is inclusive of $10 million in pre-seed funding led by Slauson & Co.

• Other investors include celebrities Kevin Hart and Simu Liu.

How it works: Bluecore's reactors can sit miles away from ports, connected via subsea cables, and use ocean water for cooling.

• The barges are mobile, but also can be moored or anchored like an offshore oil rig would be.

What they're saying: "The Port of Long Beach is our priority, because it's the first port in the country to be publicly enthusiastic about incorporating small modular reactors, but we've gotten inbound from other ports and even data centers," says CEO Kofi Asante.
