Axios C-Suite: Why CEOs should pay attention to states' litigation push

CEOs looking to make deals need to be spending as much time lobbying state AGs as they do federal regulators.

Two cases show this: The Live Nation antitrust verdict and Nexstar-Tegna merger pause both resulted from lawsuits from state coalitions.

In the past, we've seen states mostly join federal regulators like the DOJ or FTC to sue to block deals or break up companies.
Now, state AGs are indicating they don't trust federal oversight and are striking out on their own. And it's working. And it's bipartisan.
