JPMorgan Chase chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon offered his advice to other CEOs and C-suite members in an interview with Jim VandeHei for a new episode of "The Axios Show."
Why it matters: Dimon, former chair of the Business Roundtable, is a legendary figure in the American business landscape.
Some of Dimon's rapid-fire tips:
"Be open-minded."
"Read everything."
"Analyze everything over and over."
"Have a little grit."
"Have a great decision-making process. ... It's usually iterative."
Dimon encourages execs to "get out there" into their workplace — not just use "culture" as a buzzword.
"Culture is real, but that word is so misused. Like sometimes people think: 'Oh, I run an open place. Every issue is raised.' But you go to their meetings, and people are afraid to talk."
"And other people, it's complete open conversation. It's because the leader wants it to be open. There's nothing you can say to offend me because I'm just trying to do a better job. That's all — for the client, for the country, for the community."
