Humanity is undergoing a "transformation" in the AI era, Meta President Dina Powell McCormick said Wednesday at Axios' AI+DC Summit.

Why it matters: But the key word, she says, is "humanity." In a period of rapidly evolving innovation that has massive implications for the workforce and world, tech can't lose the guiding "soul" behind it.

Driving the news: "We are witnessing how people are thinking of using this technology in ways we couldn't have even imagined," McCormick told Axios' Mike Allen.

She pointed to key members of the workforce like welders, construction workers and electricians, which are in demand to build and maintain tech infrastructure.
"You think about our kids, and it's hard to even fathom what they will be doing in three to five and 10 years," she says.
She sees AI as an "equalizer" — a "mostly affordable" tool that could lead to the "democratization of a lot of these industries and potential jobs."
