Exclusive: Warner and Rounds roll out bipartisan AI workforce bill

Driving the news: The Economy of the Future Commission Act would create a panel to develop policy recommendations on AI's economic and workforce impacts, per the announcement.

• The commission would include Republican and Democratic members of Congress, along with experts from industry, academia and government.
• Within seven months, it would issue an interim report on "expected employment changes from AI."
• The commission would then have 13 months to deliver a final report with legislative recommendations on AI education, workforce training and re-skilling, as well as taxation and unemployment insurance policy.

The legislation is endorsed by Microsoft and Google, among other AI, education, labor and tech industry groups and colleges.
