Former President Bill Clinton in a deposition said he "did nothing wrong" during his acquaintance with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, but their connections have been noted for years.
Why it matters: Clinton is among the highest-profile figures named in the Epstein files and would be one of the most prominent witnesses to testify about his connections to the former financier.
- Some high-profile names mentioned in the files have faced consequences in the aftermath of the disclosures. Other powerful figures with alleged connections to Epstein — like Bill Gates and Elon Musk — have not yet been called to testify before Congress.
- Clinton will be the first former president to testify before a congressional panel in over 40 years.
Here's what the files say about Bill Clinton.
What the Epstein files say about Bill Clinton
Clinton's name is mostly linked to Epstein concerning travel and meetings.
- The files contain evidence of correspondence and flight logs that connect Clinton to Epstein's orbit.
- The former president appeared on Epstein's private jet logs at least 16 times between 2002 and 2003, according to a CNN analysis.
- The files also contain unverified sexual abuse allegations against Clinton, who has denied any wrongdoing.
Photos and emails
Photos of Clinton are scattered throughout the trove of documents, too.
- Some show the former president posing with Epstein and co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell.
- Another depicts Clinton in a pool. Others show the former president with rock star Mick Jagger and pop star Michael Jackson.

The Epstein documents also show Clinton's team communicating with Maxwell via email on multiple occasions from 2001 to 2004.
- Many of those emails are tied to travel and food logistics. In some, Maxwell wonders if Clinton himself would be attending an event.
Other Clinton and Epstein ties
Clinton and Epstein appeared to interact multiple times before the Epstein scandal erupted.
- The former president traveled aboard Epstein's plane during Clinton Foundation trips in the early 2000s, which was before Epstein was charged with sex crimes.
- Epstein also visited the White House on multiple occasions while Clinton was president.
- Records show that Clinton received campaign funds from Epstein in 1992, ABC News reports, citing federal election records.
What Clinton says about the Epstein files
Clinton has denied any wrongdoing tied to Epstein and advocated for more transparency over the Epstein files.
- Though the former president was a known acquaintance of Epstein, he has said he was not aware of Epstein's crimes and had ended their relationship.
- Bill and Hillary Clinton have pushed for transparency over the files and suggested that their deposition be made public.
