Illinois Gov. Pritzker demands tariff refunds from Trump

• Pritzker estimates that the Trump administration owes Illinois alone $8,679,261,600 in "total damages."

Catch up quick: The Supreme Court in a 6-3 decision Friday struck down Trump's tariffs, saying they would "represent a transformative expansion of the President's authority over tariff policy,"

What they're saying: "Your tariff taxes wreaked havoc on farmers, enraged our allies and sent grocery prices through the roof," Pritzker wrote in a Friday letter to Trump.

• "The Supreme Court has ruled that this is yet one more unconstitutional act by you and your administration. This letter and the attached invoice stand as an official notice that the compensation is owed to the people of Illinois and if you do not comply we will pursue further action. "

The other side: "The immense weight of Illinois's sky-high taxes and regulations is matched only by JB Pritzker's own personal bloat," White House spokesperson Kush Desai said in an emailed statement. "If this slob really cared about delivering economic relief for Illinois, he'd start with his own state government instead of chasing another stupid headline."

The latest: Trump said Friday that he believes attempts to claw back the money will be tied up in court for years to come.
