Gail Slater on Thursday said she is leaving the Justice Department, where she led the antitrust division.
Why it matters: This is being viewed as a victory for big business, including tech giants, over some of MAGA's more populist voices.
- Among the cases Slater was overseeing was one involving Ticketmaster parent company Live Nation.

- She previously served as economic policy adviser to Vice President Vance, and was tech policy adviser to the National Economic Council during Trump's first term.
- In between she spent time at both Fox Corp and Roku.
What she's saying: Slater announced her departure via X, without giving a reason for her decision or mentioning Trump:
For the record: Attorney General Pamela Bondi confirmed Slater's departure. "On behalf of the Department of Justice, we thank Gail Slater for her service to the Antitrust Division which works to protect consumers, promote affordability, and expand economic opportunity," she said in a statement.
- Omeed Assefi, previously deputy assistant AG, is now acting assistant AG for antitrust, per a source familiar with the matter.
