Zipline raises $600M to fund growth for more U.S. drone deliveries

Zipline raised more than $600 million in new funding and will expand its autonomous drone delivery service to Houston and Phoenix in early 2026, and more cities later in the year.

Why it matters: It's more proof that on-demand drone delivery is maturing, opening up new conveniences for American consumers.

The big picture: Zipline, which already delivers medical supplies in multiple African countries, has been rapidly increasing its deliveries of food, retail and healthcare products in the U.S. — some in as little as 10 minutes.

This week the California-based company surpassed 2 million commercial deliveries worldwide, the company said.
It currently serves eight retailers in Dallas, including Walmart, and will be announcing more stores next week.

What to watch: In Houston and Phoenix, eligible customers will soon be able to order tens of thousands of items through the Zipline app.

Between the lines: With this funding round, Zipline is now valued at $7.6 billion.

New and existing investors participated, including Fidelity Management & Research Company, Baillie Gifford, Valor Equity Partners and Tiger Global.
Zipline will use the funds to accelerate its expansion into at least four new states this year. Houston and Phoenix are the first to be announced.
