U.S. leveled military facilities in Maduro attack, satellite imagery reveals

U.S. strikes destroyed Venezuelan military infrastructure during an overnight raid that led to the capture of Nicolás Maduro, the country's strongman leader, fresh satellite imagery shows.
The big picture: Operation Absolute Resolve, as it's now known, involved more than 150 U.S. aircraft, including F-35 fighters, B-1 bombers and drones.
- Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine on Saturday said troops used "overwhelming force" and that there were "multiple self-defense engagements."
Zoom in: Images captured and distributed by Vantor show leveled storage buildings, burned vehicles and a blown-up security post at Fuerte Tiuna, near Caracas.
- Fuerte Tiuna is home to defense agencies and commands, as well as official residencies.
- The U.S. attack caused "significant damage" across the complex, according to Vantor.
