America's political leaders gathered at the National Cathedral on Thursday to pay respects to the late Vice President Dick Cheney.
The big picture: Cheney, vice president to former President George W. Bush, was a pivotal figure as America responded to the 9/11 terrorist attacks and throughout the subsequent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- Cheney died on Nov. 4 from complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease. He was 84.
- Attendees included Bush, former President Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Vice President Dan Quayle and Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and John Roberts.
- President Trump and Vice President Vance were not invited, per Reuters.
- Trump had a long-running feud with Cheney's daughter, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who voted to impeach Trump following the Jan. 6 riot.
