Jake Sullivan, President Biden's national security adviser, and his former deputy Jon Finer will be out Friday with a new weekly show — "The Long Game" — to "bring the President's Daily Brief to podcast form."
Why it matters: The video podcast, published by Vox Media, draws on the duo's decades of experience shaping U.S. foreign policy under Presidents Biden and Obama.
Sullivan and Finer, a Washington Post foreign correspondent before entering government, have known each other for decades. They first met playing touch football at Oxford circa 2000.
What they're saying: "Jon and I spent four years in the White House talking all day, every day, about everything happening on the planet," says Sullivan, now a professor at the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
- "We also got a lot of practice briefing powerful and impatient people who wanted to know everything they needed to know in the shortest amount of time possible."
