"Vicious" available Friday on Paramount+
State of play: Dakota Fanning stars in this horror movie about a woman who receives a mysterious box from a stranger with specific instructions about what she must put inside it to survive the night.
What they're saying: In a statement, director Bryan Bertino says he drew inspiration for the story from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- "I was thinking about uncomfortable moments, bad relationships, unhealthy friendships and how so often they were similar in terms of feeling stuck and locked in. I wanted to write a story that explored that in a visceral way."
"Stay" available now on Hulu
Zoom in: This supernatural thriller follows a married couple going through a separation while trying to stay alive as supernatural forces invade their home.
Behind the scenes: The film is produced by Andscape, Disney's Black content studio.
"True Haunting" available now on Netflix
The intrigue: James Wan ("Saw") directs this paranormal series about two hauntings, documented by the people who experienced them.
