Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) will attend conservative activist Charlie Kirk's funeral on Sunday, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: Kirk's assassination has left raw emotions on Capitol Hill, especially among Republicans who were close to him and his movement, including Johnson.

Johnson's presence at the funeral underscores his role in guiding the party — and the country — through a moment of mourning and division.
The funeral will be held in at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Several other GOP lawmakers and high-ranking administration officials also are expected to attend.

The big picture: Johnson has repeatedly called for leaders to unite following Kirk's killing — even as the aftermath has exposed deep partisan divides.

House lawmakers took a step Wednesday to lower the temperature in the chamber, with four Republicans voting to block the censure of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) over her critical comments about Kirk.
The House is set to vote today on a resolution honoring Kirk.
