Exclusive: "Release the damn" Epstein files, Tillis says

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said Wednesday that the Trump administration should "release the damn" Jeffrey Epstein files as the best way to put the whole issue in the rearview.

Why it matters: The Justice Department's handling of evidence in the case has driven the most enduring conflict between President Trump and his MAGA base of this term — and the fallout has roiled Congress.

"It makes no sense to me," Tillis told Axios' Stef Kight at an Axios News Shapers event Wednesday, referring to the administration's refusal to share the files.
"Either it's a nothing burger ... or it's something really disturbing, and that's actually even a more compelling reason to release it," he said.
