Scoop: Aria raises $152 million for consumer brands fund

Aria Growth Partners, a New York-based firm focused on consumer brands, tells Axios that it's raised $152 million for its second fund.

The big picture: That's nearly twice the size of Aria's debut fund, with the firm continuing to be led by Trevor Nelson (ex-Alliance Consumer Growth) and Jackie Dunklau (Cavu Venture Partners).

Zoom in: Dunklau says that better-for-you food products are a particular area of interest, highlighting popcorn brand and portfolio company Lesser Evil.

On the flip side are fashion and CPG brands that are DTC-only.
"DTC is an important channel, but it's more important to prove that you can also work at a Walmart or Target or Whole Foods," she explains. "Because oftentimes the DTC consumer is the low-hanging fruit, maybe super targeted on Facebook or Instagram, rather than a real indicator."
