Exclusive: GOP targeting Ossoff during Final Four, Masters

• Senate Republicans want Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) to run, and he's still considering it, according to a person familiar with his thinking.
• The ad is being run by One Nation, the issue advocacy arm of the Senate Leadership Fund super PAC.

Zoom in: The spot focuses on Ossoff's opposition to a recent Republican-sponsored bill that would bar federally funded schools from allowing transgender women to participate in women's sports.

• "Man-to-man defense isn't woke enough for Ossoff. He's for they/them," the ad says, as an Ossoff look-alike dunks a basketball over a female player.

The big picture: Republicans made the issue of trans women playing women's sports a centerpiece of their 2024 campaign blueprint.

• The "they/them" line echoes one the Trump campaign used in a commercial targeting then-Vice President Kamala Harris. "Kamala is for they/them. President Trump is for you," it said.

• One Nation provided a polling memo to us showing that 79% of registered Georgia voters support a ban on "biological males participating in women's sports."

What they're saying: "American parents don't need federal bureaucrats confirming our children's genitalia," Ossoff campaign spokesperson Ellie Dougherty told us.

• "Athletic associations and local school districts can ensure fair, safe competition in childhood athletics," Dougherty added.
• The Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ+ advocacy group, said during the House debate over the bill that "there has been considerable disinformation and misinformation about what the inclusion of transgender youth in sports entails."
