Christie Roberts, the former director of Senate Democrats' campaign arm, is launching a political media firm dedicated to helping Democratic candidates and initiatives, Axios has learned.
Why it matters: Roberts oversaw some of the party's most important campaign victories in recent years, including critical Senate wins in Georgia and Nevada.
- Roberts is partnering with veteran ad makers Adam Magnus, Lauren Passalacqua and Jordan Wilson to launch MPWR Media Strategies.
- The group worked together on the successful campaigns of Raphael Warnock, Catherine Cortez Maso, JB Pritzker and Angela Alsobrooks, among others.
- Roberts is capping off two consecutive terms as the executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
The big picture: Under Roberts' leadership, the DSCC defied expectations by holding onto a Senate majority in 2022 and, in 2024, had victories in a handful of states President Trump won.
- Senate Democrats expanded their majority in 2022 — the first time a party in power didn't lose a single Senate seat since 1934.
What they're saying: ""I've seen firsthand how Adam, Lauren and Jordan's creativity and commitment makes the difference in campaigns like mine," Cortez Masto, who won a critical Senate race in Nevada three years ago, said in a statement.
- "Christie, Lauren and Adam were with me and believed in me from Day One," said Warnock, who also won competitive races in Georgia.
- "I had the privilege of working closely with (Roberts) for over those four years, and she just has incredible talent," Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.), who was the chair of the DSCC during Roberts' tenure, told Axios Thursday.
