Federal prosecutor for D.C. vows to Musk he'll protect DOGE

• It's the latest nod to the power Musk's Trump affiliation has earned the new "special government employee."

Driving the news: Martin posted on X a copy of a letter he addressed to Musk and Boring Co. president Steve Davis, thanking them for referring individuals and networks who "appear to be stealing government property and/or threatening government employees."

• Martin said "if people are discovered to have broken the law or even acted simply unethically, we will investigate them and we will chase them to the end of the Earth."
• He said in a caption that he only sent the letter to Musk via X. ⁦
• "I am proud that we have been able to assist local law-enforcement in protecting the DOGE workers and others over the past week or so," Martin wrote, calling a "safe DC" a priority for Trump.

• It was not immediately clear who the reported individuals and networks are and what they did.

Zoom out: Martin also posted a letter on X on Monday, telling Musk to allow him and his staff to protect DOGE, its work and workers.

The U.S. Attorney's office and representatives for Musk did not immediately respond to Axios' request for comment.
