Mobile gaming is taking off in Africa, where people are apparently loving games like Candy Crush and virtual platforms like Roblox.

State of play: "Africa's gaming industry grew almost six times faster than the global average last year," Bloomberg reported today.

• Its revenue rose 12% in 2024, beating worldwide growth of 2.1%, according to a yearly analysis by ADG Technology and Newzoo.
• The number of gamers on the continent jumped 10% to 349 million, with the fastest growth in Eritrea and Niger.

Zoom in: Chalk part of that up to Africa's fast-growing and young population, where smartphones are increasingly being used to access critical services, including health care.

• And there's always time for Candy Crush.
