Young adults are swiping right on Facebook Dating.
Driving the news: Daily Facebook Dating conversations among 18- to 29-year-old users jumped 24% over the last year.
What we're hearing: Ayla Tse, 27, told Axios that Facebook Dating helped her find the love of her life, Nik Dorozhkinrom, 24. The Brooklyn couple have been together for two years.
- By the time they found each other, Tse was "fed up with the patterns on the other apps," like ghosting and overall cheesiness.
- "The right timing and right vibe" on Facebook Dating led to a match with Dorozhkinrom.
"I love how easy it is to set up," Tse told Axios. "Which is basically effortless! I love how you can see who liked you too without paying. And I liked the people on there more than the other apps."
By the numbers: More than half of young adult users faithfully return to the app, according to data that Facebook shared with Axios.
- 55% of women and 56% of men return each month.
Fun fact: It's more likely for a woman's "like" to end in a match.
- On average, 11% of likes for men result in matches, whereas 72% of women's likes result in a match.
Long-term relationships are in, and more women are seeking them out.
- 38% of young adults in the U.S. and Canada prefer long-term relationships, while 28% are looking for something more casual.
- 47% of women are looking for long-term relationships, compared to 35% of men.
Between the lines: Unlike other dating apps, Facebook Dating and all of its features are free.
- Users are also able to see mutual friends they have in common with their match while still hiding their dating profile from friends.
