Mass deportations won't include going door to door, Rep. Dan Crenshaw says

• Tom Homan, who was recently named Trump's "Border Czar," said the new administration's planned deportation operation will target "the worst first" — prioritizing what he called criminal threats and national-security threats.

Zoom in: In practice, the deportations will start with a list of people that Homeland Security Investigations already has on their radar, Crenshaw told Axios' Hans Nichols at the Future of Defense Summit in Washington, D.C.

• There's already a long list of tens of thousands of migrants who are in the U.S. illegally, who have deportation orders, he said. That includes people convicted of crimes or people who entered the country illegally and were found not to have an asylum claim or parole status.
• Crenshaw added that it could also mean that "every once in a while" there is a "roundup of a certain company" known to hire people who entered the country illegally.
• The Trump transition team, the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement did not immediately respond to Axios' request to confirm the information.

What he's saying: "I think a lot of people ... they want it to mean this to scare folks politically — and I think this was the case during the election— was this sort of door-to-door type of mass deportation," Crenshaw said.

• "We don't have the resources for that. I don't see that happening," he continued. "There's plenty of deportation to do prior to getting to that point, so I just don't think anyone should fear this idea."
