Public relations firm Golin has appointed Megan Noel as global president, corporate affairs.
Why it matters: Noel's hiring highlights the evolving demands of PR firms, as clients grapple with socio-political matters that impact corporate reputation.
The big picture: Corporate affairs work has become more common within traditional public relation offerings as stakeholder needs grow.
- Noel's hiring will support Golin to "modernize and contemporize the offering, to be unique in our industry and to be differentiated from our competition," Golin president and chief operating officer Gary Rudnick, told Axios.
- "More and more today, every client relationship that we have is somehow integrated with corporate affairs work — and that didn't used to be the case," he added.
Details: Noel joins Golin from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she led communications and corporate affairs for U.S. and Mexico.
- She will serve on the executive leadership team and report to Rudnick.
- Noel is replacing Scott Farrell, who retired after 30 years with the firm.
What they're saying: "The chance to build upon and expand Golin's corporate affairs capabilities, especially at a time like this — when CCOs are spending a ton of time thinking about culture and transformation, or how to engage in the right way in societal issues, or manage complex geopolitical issues, or even how to adopt AI — is what attracted me to the agency," Noel says.
What to watch: Noel supported AI integration and training at PwC and expects to continue that type of work on behalf of clients, she says.
- "We see a lot of agencies invest in tools. We're investing in tools, but we're also investing in change management and learning and development so comms teams can actually incorporate AI into their workflows."
