1. Ecuador's been hit by massive power cuts over the last few days due to a major drought that's left the country without hydroelectric power.
Authorities said this week the cuts will range from 10 to 12 hours a day.
The drought is the worst in more than 60 years, President Daniel Noboa said yesterday in New York, where he'll be participating in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly that started this week.
2. Venezuela and Argentina are trying to arrest each other's presidents amid ongoing disputes.
An Argentine court yesterday issued an arrest warrant for President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela for an investigation into human rights violations, days after the Venezuelan regime ordered the arrest of Argentina's President Javier Milei over a dispute about an airplane.
The Venezuelan attorney general's office issued a warrant against Milei this weekend for charges of alleged aggravated theft of the plane, which was seized by the U.S. with the help of Argentina earlier this year.
The warrant against Maduro involves accusations of torture against Venezuelans now living in Argentina.
