Kamala Harris raises $49.6M after Biden drops out of 2024 race

Donations are pouring in for Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign after President Biden dropped out of the 2024 race on Sunday.

The big picture: The Harris campaign said Monday morning that "everyday Americans have given $49.6 million in grassroots donations to her campaign" since Biden's endorsement.

ActBlue announced grassroots supporters had raised as of 9pm ET Sunday $46.7 million via the Democratic donation-processing site following her campaign launch, which it noted on X was "the biggest fundraising day of the 2024 cycle."
The campaign officially changed its Federal Election Commission committee name to "Harris for President" following Biden's withdrawal and his nearly $96 million in campaign finances were being transferred to the vice president's name Sunday.

What they're saying: "Grassroots supporters are energized and excited to support her as the Democratic nominee," ActBlue said in a post to X Sunday evening that announced it had raised $27.5 million from small donors in the first five hours of Harris' 2024 presidential campaign.

"Small-dollar donors are fired up and ready to take on this election," the Democratic donation-processing site added in its later post announcing the record haul.
