Biden to America: "It's time to cool it down"

Driving the news: Biden, speaking for about six minutes, said "all of us now face a time of testing as the election approaches."

• "But politics must never be a literal battlefield and God forbid a killing field."

State of play: During separate remarks earlier on Sunday, Biden directed an independent national security review to investigate the shooting that killed one rally attendee and injured at least two others. The suspected shooter is also dead.
