President Biden introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as "President Putin" at the NATO summit on Thursday, before quickly correcting himself.
Why it matters: Many members of Congress, along with the American public, are watching Thursday's presser to assess Biden's performance after his debate disaster in June.
"Now I want to hand it over to the President of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination, ladies and gentlemen, President Putin," Biden said, naming the Russian leader whose country invaded Ukraine in 2022.
Biden then cleaned up his comment: "President Putin? He's going to beat President Putin. President Zelensky. I'm so focused on beating Putin, we've gotta worry about it."
