The Ethereum Community Conference 7 (EthCC) took place in Brussels this year instead of Paris, and it has been marred by street crime.
Behind the scenes: A handful of folks on social media are sharing first- or secondhand accounts of robberies.
- @evanincrypto posted a photo Monday of police on the scene in broad daylight. He said he was just robbed and his knee was "badly injured."
- @jtriley_eth said people were told to "cover crypto logos" and "hide event lanyards."
- 👆 @laurentzeimes posted a map of Brussels outlining places people should avoid "if you don't know how to fight."
- Someone posted a gif of Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Commando" with the caption: "Going out to get waffles between events at EthCC Brussels."
- Also, many have posted videos of torrential rains and flooding.
Zoom in: One bright spot at the Ethereum-dedicated conference was when Vitalik Buterin, Joe Lubin and Gavin Wood took the stage together.
