DA Alvin Bragg on Trump conviction: The jurors "have spoken"

• Bragg has emerged at the center of GOP criticism — led by the former president —that the prosecution is politically motivated.

What he's saying: "While this defendant may be unlike any other in American history, we arrived at this trial and ultimately today at this verdict in the same manner as every other case that comes to the courtroom doors," Bragg said during a press conference on Thursday.

• He added: "By following the facts and the law, and doing so without fear or favor."

Driving the news: "12 everyday jurors vowed to make a decision based on the evidence and the law and the evidence and the law alone," Bragg said.

The big picture: The jury deliberated for 12 hours over two days this week after hearing testimony from witnesses for over a month.

• Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the trial, set Trump's sentencing date for July 11, four days before the start of the Republican National Convention.
• Bragg did not comment during the news conference on any possible prison sentencing for Trump.
