Pelosi may delay Monday vote on infrastructure package

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday said she might not bring the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill to the floor on Monday as previously pledged.

Why it matters: Pelosi's remarks on ABC's "This Week" come as Democrats have struggled to agree on the timing of the bill and as the divide between moderate Democrats and their progressive counterparts widen over the final value of the reconciliation package.

• Despite a potential delay, Pelosi expressed confidence about the outcome, saying, "let me just say that we're going to pass the bill this week."

Catch up quick: The Senate passed the bipartisan infrastructure package on Aug. 10, but the measure has faced an uphill battle in the House, where members were largely left out of the negotiating process, Axios' Alayna Treene writes.

• "The votes aren't there," Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, said on CNN's "State of the Union." 
• "This is a pre-conference bill, which means everybody, everybody in the Senate, everybody in the House, has to agree to it," she added.

What Pelosi's saying: "I'm never bringing to the floor a bill that doesn't have the votes," Pelosi told host George Stephanopoulos. "You have to go when you have the votes in a reasonable time, and we will."

• "We want this to be bipartisan. If we didn't want it to be bipartisan, we would have put it in the reconciliation bill," she continued.
