Cristiano Ronaldo to rejoin Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo, considered one of the world's best soccer players, will transfer to Manchester United, the team announced on Friday.

The big picture: Manchester United, while dominant historically, has not won the Premier League since the 2012-2013 season and they have not won a major trophy since they won the EFL Cup back in 2017.

Background: Ronaldo previously played for Manchester United from 2003-2009. He scored 118 in 292 games with the team.

  • In his career, Ronaldo has won five Ballon d’Ors (an award given to the best soccer player in the world), five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league titles, and the European Championship.

Details: According to the Guardian, the transfer fee is €2o million plus up to €3 million in bonuses.

  • Ronaldo has 12 months of a €31 million contract with Juventus that Manchester United will now be responsible for paying per the Guardian.
