Charlotte Worthington from Great Britain earned a gold medal in the new BMX freestyle cycling category in the Olympics on Sunday morning local time.

Driving the news: Worthington landed the first 360 backflip in women's contest, beating Team USA's Hannah Roberts into second-place for the silver medal. Switzerland’s Nikita Ducarroz took bronze.
