A shooting at a birthday party in Colorado on Sunday left seven dead, including the gunman, per a statement from the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Driving the news: Police arrived at the scene at about 12:18 am and found six people deceased and one injured, who died later in hospital, per the statement.
- The gunman is believed to be partner of one of the female victims at the party. He shot six people before taking his own life.
- All of the children at the party are unharmed.
The motive for the attack remains unknown, but an investigation is ongoing.
What they're saying: "From the officers who responded to the shooting to the investigators still on scene, we are all left incredibly shaken. This is something you hope never happens in your own community, in the place that you call home," Colorado Springs Police Chief Vince Niski said.
