On Wednesday June 24, Axios and No Kid Hungry hosted a virtual event on the state of hungry children in America. Axios CEO and co-founder Jim VandeHei and Axios executive editor Sara Kehaulani Goo discussed the impact of coronavirus and the challenges of feeding children in the summer months with Chef JJ Johnson, Share our Strength National Policy Advisor Dorothy McAuliffe, No Kid Hungry CEO Billy Shore and No Kid Hungry Louisiana Director Rhonda M. Jackson.
The summer months are already some of the hungriest times of year as families lose access to free and low-cost school meals, and with the disruption of coronavirus limiting access to other avenues of food like summer camps and libraries, swift action and collaboration is required to meet the needs of hungry children across the country.
