Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) announced his 2020 presidential bid on Thursday on CBS This Morning, becoming the 21st candidate to jump into the crowded field.
The backdrop: Bennet was issued a clean bill of health last month following prostate cancer surgery. He called the diagnosis "clarifying" in deciding to enter the presidential race.
- The usually pragmatic lawmaker got some media attention earlier this year after a heated exchange with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) over the government shutdown.
