The large centre-right and centre-left blocs lost their combined majority in the European Parliament, as the world's biggest multi-country election results came in Monday.

Details: Greens and nationalists celebrated a surge in votes amid the highest turnout for 20 years. The center-right European People's Party was still the largest bloc. It's expected to form a pro-EU "grand coalition" with the Socialists and Democrats, with support from liberals and the Greens, the BBC reports. Take a look at the election drama, in photos.
