A 2-and-half-year-old Guatemalan boy apprehended at the southern border died in El Paso after spending weeks in the hospital, The Washington Post first reported Wednesday.
Why it matters: He’s the fourth migrant child to die after being apprehended at the border since December, per CBS News. Guatemalan consul Tekandi Paniagua told AP the boy was treated in hospital for a month after being diagnosed with pneumonia. He died Tuesday. Trump administration officials have yet to comment on this case but have previously highlighted issues dealing with a surging number of migrants at the border.
