Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) announced his 2020 presidential bid on Thursday on CBS This Morning, becoming the 21st candidate to jump into the crowded field.
The backdrop: Bennet was issued a clean bill of health last month following prostate cancer surgery. He called the diagnosis "clarifying" in deciding to enter the presidential race.
The usually pragmatic lawmaker got some media attention earlier this year after a heated exchange with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) over the government shutdown.
