New initiative helps hospital patients vote

A recently launched website called patientvoting.com provides emergency absentee ballot options tailored to each state, ensuring that hospital beds are not a deterrent to voting this Election Day, reports NBC News.

The details: "In most states, there is a process for submitting an emergency absentee ballot application to your local election officials," the initiative's founder Kelly Wong, an emergency medicine resident, told NBC News. "In some states, you can designate a friend or family member to pick up your ballot and deliver it to you. In other states, the board of elections may send someone to the hospital for you."
