Banksy pulled off arguably his most elaborate art stunt yet on Friday after the Girl with Red Balloon portrait "self-destructed" and dropped through a shredder after being sold for $1.4 million.
The details: The shredder was hidden in a frame, per CNN, and activated immediately after the painting was sold in a Sotheby's auction. It's unclear how it was activated, but will go down as another elaborate and expensive act from the anonymous artist. Bansky responded in an instagram post after the stunt with three simple words: "Going, going, gone..."
