UberEats held takeover talks with Swiggy

UberEats is in talks to acquire U.K.-based competitor Deliveroo, as Bloomberg first reported, and also held similar talks with India's Swiggy a few months ago, Axios has learned, though no deal was reached and Swiggy is reportedly closing a fresh funding round.

Bottom line: While Uber sold its ride-hailing businesses in challenging regions like China and Southeast Asia, it seems confident enough in UberEats to try acquiring some local competitors.
