Defense Distributed, the company at the heart of the debate over releasing blueprints of 3D-printed guns, has began selling digital files for downloadable guns on its website while ongoing lawsuits have prohibited it from providing the blueprints for free, said founder Cody Wilson.
"Everyone in America who wants these files will get them. They're allowed to name their own price at our website. Making the money isn't important to me. I'm happy now to become the iTunes of downloadable guns, if I can't be the Napster."ā Cody Wilson, founder of Defense Distributed
Why it matters: Attorney General Jeff Sessions has said the Justice Department will "vigorously enforce" the federal prohibition of producing undetectable 3D-printed firearms "to the fullest extent."
