Kobach to step aside from election role until primary votes are finalized

Trump-backed candidate for governor and current Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach said on Friday he will step aside from his role as Kansas' top elections chief until results from the GOP gubernatorial primary are finalized, according to the AP.

Why it matters: Kobach is barely holding on to his lead in the primary, and already a handful of vote count discrepancies have been discovered.
