Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach's lead in the primary for governor was cut in half after a vote mistake was discovered, the AP reports. There was a 100-vote discrepancy between the number of votes incumbent Governor Jeff Colyer received in Thomas County (522) and what the Secretary of State website says he received (422).
Why it matters: The mistake means Kobach's lead has fallen to only 91 votes from 191 when additional results were reported after Tuesday's primary. This puts Trump-backed Kobach farther away from unseating Colyer. Go deeper: Kobach refuses to recuse himself from vote recount.
