Blueprints for 3D-printed guns to become available Aug. 1

Texas-based nonprofit, Defense Distributed, will begin posting online blueprints for 3D-printed firearms on Aug. 1, reports USA Today's Josh Hafner.

Why it matters: Following a settlement with the State Department, Americans will be able to 3D print their own guns at home, including AR-15s, without being traced or subjected to background checks. The Second Amendment Foundation has called the settlement "a devastating blow to the gun-prohibition lobby."
