Polls have closed in Georgia, and voters have cast their choice for Republican nominee for governor in the heated contest between Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp.

What to know: President Trump has endorsed Kemp, which should give him a boost. The state hasn't had a Democratic governor in 20 years.
The nominee will face Democrat Stacey Abrams in November, the first black woman to be a gubernatorial nominee of a major party.
- Both Cagle and Kemp have had controversial moments throughout the campaign.
- Cagle recently said the Republican primary has become reflective of "who had the biggest gun, who had the biggest truck, and who could be the craziest."
- And Kemp's "So Conservative" campaign ad drew scrutiny when he said he was going to "round up criminal illegals" in his truck.
