Sanford challenger Katie Arrington seriously injured in car accident
Katie Arrington, a state lawmaker who defeated Rep. Mark Sanford in the GOP primary for South Carolina's 1st congressional district two weeks ago, was seriously injured in a fatal car accident near Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, per The Post and Courier.

The Post and Courier reported that —while she is alert and talking — she will have to spend at least two weeks in the hospital after sustaining a fracture in her back, several broken ribs, a collapsed artery in her leg, and other injuries that "will require major surgery, including the removal of her small intestine."
